How to make your Airbnb listing stand out in 2023?
13 January, 2022Wait, what? Is it 2022 already? How did this happen? I am still trying to process 2020… Jokes aside, let’s talk about the sustainable alternatives to Christmas trees. Why after Christmas? Well, why not? It is good to know for the future, how we can be better people and live more sustainable lives.
Christmas trees
In the western world, where Christmas is a thing, we think a big deal about the traditions and the way we celebrate our cultural or religious events. Or we just want to make our children happy and buy them this green fluffy tree once a year.
It breaks my heart seeing, how in Germany, where I live, the Christmas trees are thrown away to the streets to be collected by the waste management already the next day after Christmas Eve. The life span of the trees is so short that I started considering it some sort of vandalism against nature. Why should culture or religion affect the nature we love?
Originally, I am from Estonia. My snowy Nordic country became famous for many positive things, but, unfortunately, we also are the ones who started the tradition of putting the Christmas tree in the middle of the square for the celebration. Technically, we all started this.
Sustainable alternatives to Christmas trees
What can we do to protect the forests and Christmas trees? We can’t change the culture, right? But we can find great sustainable alternatives to Christmas trees. And at this point, I would even consider plastic alternatives, just because it will be re-used for years and not trashed immediately after the festivities are over.
Zero-Waste Christmas tree
This Christmas tree from Avocado Store is made of recycled paper and its simplicity could be a big advantage. It won’t require a lot of space in the storage to keep for the next year.

Christmas tree SAPI
If you are looking for something that looks more like a traditional tree, this cute deco tree SAPI can be a good option. It looks real, comes with lights and is 180 x 108 cm.

Christmas tree LOVI
3D Christmas tree LOVI made of birch is another good alternative. The size is 120 x 60 cm and comes originally from Finland. What I like about this tree is how simple, but cute and symbolic it is. Some red ornaments come with the tree, too. Easy to assemble and disassemble.

DIY Christmas trees
There are too many options you can do. If you want to keep traditions going and involve your children in some exciting activities, try doing a DIY project to create your Christmas tree.
