Howdy, super stressed reader. If you haven’t checked yet, in this post we discussed the power of a green colour in the interior, that can create a relaxing environment at home. Now, I would love to continue the subject and list of decorating ideas for a stress-free interior.
Why? Well, the colour is not the only thing that could make your space extra relaxing. Let’s have a look, what else could do the trick, shall we?
Home plants are a wonderful idea to start with. The more the merrier. It is important to mention, try to avoid artificial plants. The live plants won’t only clean the air at home, but also will bring the relaxing green colour into your space.
One of the best tricks to make your space calming is to have fewer things at home. Don’t overdo it with home decor and furniture. The rule is simple, the less you have at home, the more relaxing the space is.
Well, this is something that you either have or don’t. Some houses just don’t have natural light and there is nothing you can do about it. But those of you who are on the lucky side, you can use the natural light for your benefit. Cover the windows with shades and curtains only in the nighttime. Let the rays of sunlight come in your place.
Another great idea is to use natural material within your interior design. Get yourself a nice dining table made of real wood. Use a fireplace to heat up your home. In the textile use the earthy tones or water/wood/greenery prints. Natural elements are something that absolutely bring your stress level down.
If natural prints in textile is not your thing, a suitable alternative would be neutral palette. Use nice calming colours in the decor and avoid flashy or too dark ones.
I, personally, not a candle kind of guy. Never got accustomed. Every time I end up in a candle isle in IKEA, I think to myself, what am I doing with my life? But hey, to think logically, candles bring a lot of romantism and soothing feeling to any space.
Memories bring joy. Photos of our families and friends, events and travels can bring a lot of great feelings. Print them in big formats and get nice frames, hang them on the walls or place them on the shelves.
Throw pillows, blankets, curtains, couches, and armchairs with a nice upholstery, you can use all this with the right colours and prints.
In my home, I have this one corner that is dedicated to the most comfortable time I have – an armchair with a warm reading light. I am using the corner when I want to detach from the world with an enjoyable book. Dedicate a space for your comfort and use it whenever you feel stressed.
The scent of the home is as important as the interior itself. You need to find the right one for your home, as not everything is suitable. I find some scents too distracting and strong, that I cannot focus on anything else, and you want to avoid that.
My personal recommendation would be Fragrance Sticks “Rituals of Ayurveda” by Rituals. I am absolutely in love with that scent, and it is so calming. Nonetheless, it is a very personal taste, so try to find your own favourite. But you should try my recommendation first! 🙂
