This week, I am going to show you guys how I organized my home office desk and hid the massive portion of cable spaghetti.
At the end of the video, you will be amazed to see the before and after comparison. So, let’s get started.
Cable spaghetti behind my home office desk
Guys, my biggest nightmare in my apartment is the place behind my desk. I am a software engineer, so for the last one and a half years I have been doing home office and that desk is where I spend my entire day. So, every day I see this creepy heap of cable spaghetti laying on the floor and crawling up the wall like poison ivy. I decided to improve my home office corner and do something with the cables to lift them completely off the floor.
I started improving my home office corner by cleaning up the space and taking everything off the desk.
Now, I want to see if it makes sense to change the location of the desk. Maybe if I put it a bit in a different angle in the corner, it would give my home office space a bit of interest. Wow, I like that a lot.
I have an idea of how to hide the cables and wires on the desk. I have purchased this grey basket and hooks.
My idea is to screw the hooks to the desk from below and hang the basket on the hooks.
I am going to use the drill. I want to drill only 2-3 millimeters holes because I can easily screw the hooks with my hands, I just need to have the holes to start with.
It was super simple. Now, I am going to see if the basket can be attached to the hooks. Perfect!
After that, I am going to bring back the cables one by one, and attach them to the monitor, the laptop, the router and the desk lamp. The final step is to put the cables inside the basket and attach the basket to the hooks.
This is exactly what I wanted, all my wires and cables are not laying on the floor anymore, they are nicely hidden in the basket that you can barely see. The final touches are to add my office supplies and some decor.
Guys, my cozy home office turned out to be just perfect. I feel super comfortable, and it feels like I have much more space now.
What do you guys think about the idea of hiding all the cables and wires in the basket behind the desk? Would it be something you would love to try at home as well? Tell me in the comment section below.
